Carey Mulligan, 37, and her husband Marcus Mumford, 35, have bought a $6.5 million home in the Hollywood Hills as an addition to their real estate portfolio.
They already own a London pied-à-terre and stunning 16th century farmhouse tucked away in the English countryside—where they quarantined during the Covid-19 pandemic—but Carey Mulligan has chosen to buy another house in America this time.

A recent financial audit revealed that Mulligan and Mumford — she a British actress famous for her role in “An Education” and he the lead singer of Grammy-winning folk band Mumford & Sons— received a slight discount on their Spanish-style digs, which were built in the late 1920s and have been extensively renovated since. They paid just $25,000 for this Villa Tatiara, which features both modern and period details.

Marcus Oliver Johnstone Mumford was born on January 31, 1987 in Orange County, California. His parents were both English and Marcus has dual United States and British citizenship. One of his parents was from a church known as Vineyard Church in the UK.
Marcus Mumford grew up in London, where he met Ben Lovett in school. At age six months, the family moved to England from Manhattan and Marcus attended King’s College School. During his time at school, Marcus met current band members Ben Lovett and Winston Marshall. While touring with Laura Marling during his early teens, Marcus was exposed to musical acts like Fiona Apple and Elvis Costello that inspired his own musical style. Before forming their roots-music group Mumford & Sons in 2007, they began playing gigs around London to gain experience.
While attending the University of Edinburgh, Mumford was forced to drop out after his first year and return to London, because of a focus on his musical career. Throughout his time at the University, he wrote Sigh No More, the album.
When it comes to his career, After the forming of Mumford & Sons, the band began working with manager Adam Tudhope. After his efforts were successful, they were able to secure a record deal with A&R at Island in 2008. They embarked on a UK tour and made their first appearance at the Glastonbury Festival.
The band released their first EP Love Your Ground in 2008. They continued to perform around London music venues. The following year, they signed a multi-record deal with record companies in New Zealand, Australia, and North America. They released their first record with lead single “Little Lion Man.”
The band released the album Babel in 2012, with the song “I Will Wait.” The single became a major hit, and the album debuted at No.1 in UK Albums Chart and US Billboard 200. The band embarked on their first world tour to support the album in 2013. After finishing the tour, they began working on a new album.
The band quickly gained momentum with the release of their first single “Believe” in 2015 and had appearances on a number of prominent shows. They went to number one in the UK, US, and Australian music charts with their next studio album. In 2016 they released an EP titled Johannesburg.
Along with his work on music, Mumford has also been in production works. He produced ten music records for Edward Substance and the Magnetic Zeros, producing four tracks of the record. He has also been a coauthor of four tracks from King Charles’s album, released in 2016.
While he was on tour with folk singer Laura Marling, they fell in love and began dating. Their relationship did not last, however, and they broke up in 2010. After his marriage to actress Carey Mulligan in 2012, they lost touch with each other and then re-connected. They were both involved in the production of the Coen brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis, which came out in November 2015. They welcomed their daughter Evelyn Grace just a year later.
Speaking of Carey Mulligan, Carey Hannah Mulligan is an English actress; she made her film debut in 2005 portraying the role of Kitty Bennet in Pride & Prejudice. She has done numerous British programs and, in 2007, made her Broadway debut as Nina’s Seagull. In 2009, Carey gained widespread recognition for playing the lead role of Jenny in An Education, winning a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
In 2010 Mulligan received two Golden Globe Awards and an Academy Award for her performance. Before playing the role of Jenny, she had notable roles in The Greatest, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and Never Let Me Go.
Suddenly, she found herself in competition with major actresses such as Meryl Streep and Meryl Streep, who are both major Oscar winners. Dame Helen Mirren also has won many awards for her acting.
“This is beyond anything I’ve ever seen,” said Carey after witnessing the announcement of the nod from her new home in the US. “I’ve definitely never felt such anticipation and anxiety this early in the morning.”
Carey Hannah Mulligan was born on May 28, 1985 with her parents and only sibling being the hotel manager from Liverpool and a Welsh professor from Swansea.
At the age of three, Carey moved to Germany with her family, but went back to England to attend school in Surrey when her father took a managerial job for InterContinental Hotels.
Her interest in acting was sparked by watching her brother perform in a school production of the musical The King And I. She applied to several prestigious drama schools, but various rejections left her questioning whether pursuing this career was right for her.
Instead of facing pressure from her parents to go to college, she faked the application process and applied for a part-time job as a barmaid instead. Between that and pursuing her dreams, she continued with school at night.
Carey finally made it to the show after seeking advice from screenwriter Julian Fellowes and her boarding school.
As a result of contact through his agent, she was cast in the 2005 film “Pride and Prejudice” playing Keira Knightley’s little sister.
Her work flows steadily, including several TV parts and an acclaimed stint on Broadway. But she really began to shine when she played a schoolgirl who falls for an older man in An Education. With the BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Oscar nods that followed, her star really started to rise.
With a list of credits that includes appearances opposite Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in the film Public Enemies, Michael Douglas in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and sharing the bill with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in Public Enemies, this is definite proof that Carey had achieved professional success.
Yet, despite how glamorous an idea it is, her real life actions are anything but cinematic.
She is known for her down-to-earth attitude, and she is probably the only Oscar nominee who has traveled around Los Angeles by bus.
